Freedom Verses was a solo exhibition presented by House Work Presents in 2024 within the artist’s home, a 1970s maisonette on the Regents Estate in East London. The exhibition featured a new series of works on paper displayed in handmade artist frames, continuing an exploration of complex monochromatic surfaces and colour relationships. Installed throughout the domestic setting, framed works and sketchbooks were presented alongside existing architectural and functional elements of the home, including shelving and tables, which remained in place as part of the exhibition environment. Works were hung at heights corresponding to both the artist and his son, further situating the presentation within the lived context of the home. Held over a weekend, the exhibition brought together friends, family, colleagues, and visitors, using the domestic space as a site for conversation, encounter, and the presentation of contemporary art. The project subsequently led to the development of House Work Presents as an ongoing exhibition programme operating from the artist’s home.
